RP DATA ACQUIRES CITYSCOPE – LEADING COMMERCIAL PROPERTY INFORMATION PROVIDER IN AUSTRALIA AND NEW ZEALANDRP Data Ltd Media Announcement - 07th May 2007 RP Data Ltd (ASX: RPX) has acquired privately owned commercial property data and information specialist Cityscope for $5.1 million, increasing the company’s position as the leading provider of information in the commercial and residential property sectors. The acquisition will be of Cityscope’s assets and business and will provide to RP Data strategic access to the commercial property information market, as well as additional customers, commercial property data and intellectual property. Graham Mirabito – RP Data's CEO stated "This acquisition is in line with our stated strategic direction to expand our activities across related real estate segments. Commercial property represents 15 per cent of real estate agents’ revenue and RP Data had not previously addressed this market." “Cityscope is a leader in this segment and aligns geographically with our existing operations. It provides us with significant databases in commercial properties which we are able to leverage with our information services in residential units and apartments. This leverage provides plenty of scope for product and geographic expansion in the commercial and residential sectors”, he added. Founded in 1973, Cityscope is a privately owned commercial property information service that covers the main metropolitan cities, including Sydney, Melbourne, Canberra, Perth, Brisbane, Gold Coast, Adelaide, Auckland and Wellington. The company has been compiling CBD property information for more than 30 years, providing a valuable resource to property industry professionals with two products: a commercial property information service and the Lease Expiry Diary providing opportunity management solutions. IBIS commercial property report estimates there are 137,000 commercial properties in Australia, of which around 100,000 are within major Australian cities. Cityscope has significant coverage of major cities with approximately 85,000 property records including 45,000 commercial properties recorded in its databases, including lease information in key locations. In addition Cityscope has information on approximately 36,000 inner city residential units in Sydney and Melbourne. The data compiled by Cityscope is a combination of public record data, listing data and proprietary data collected from field visits and client interviews. Cityscope has an estimated market penetration of 70 per cent with around 500 customers nationally including real estate agents, banks and property developers. There is little overlap with RP Data’s product base so no or minimal customer and revenue leakage is expected. Financials: RP Data will recognise 1.5 months of the acquisition in its 2007 financial year accounts, less charges for amortisation of any identifiable intangible assets. The acquisition is expected to be Earnings Per Share accretive within 12 months on a cash earnings and reported net profit after tax basis. Acquisition Funding: About RP Data:
